[ARCHIVED] City Offices Closed - Juneteenth

Juneteenth

City offices will be closed on Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. We will reopen Tuesday, June 21, at 8 a.m.

Juneteenth, officially celebrated each year on June 19,  marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free, marking the end of slavery in the United States. Congress passed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday on June 16, 2021.
