2024 Municipal Election Notice

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Mary Esther will have the following offices on the ballot for the March 19, 2024, Municipal Election:

MAYOR: for a two (2) year term CITY COUNCIL, THREE SEATS: three seats for a four (4) year term 

Candidates must be qualified electors and residents of the City of Mary Esther. Candidates are elected at large, by highest number of votes. The top three City Council candidates will be elected to the three seats.

The qualifying period shall commence at noon on Monday, January 8, 2024, and shall close at noon on Friday, January 12, 2024. All candidates shall qualify with either the Supervisor of Elections office at 1250 Eglin Pkwy, Ste 103, Shalimar, FL., or with the Supervisor of Elections office at 302 N. Wilson St, Ste 102, Crestview, FL. Qualifying papers will be available on our website, and in the Supervisor’s offices no later than Monday, December 18, 2023. In accordance with F.S. 99.061(8), the Supervisor’s office may accept and hold qualifying papers submitted not earlier than 14 days prior to the beginning of the qualifying period, to be processed and filed during the qualifying period. 

To qualify, a candidate must file the required papers and a nominating petition signed by five (5) qualified electors of the City of Mary Esther. The state election assessment pursuant to s.99.093 Florida Statutes is $54 for a mayoral candidate, $42 for a council candidate. Candidates may have the 1% election assessment waived by filing an Affidavit of Undue Burden. 

Registration books for this election will close on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Voting will be held at Precinct #21, First Baptist Church, 28 North St., Mary Esther, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting will be conducted in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act; for information or assistance, call 850-651-7272. 

Vote-by-mail ballots will be available through the Supervisor of Elections offices, in compliance with state and federal laws.
